MWA_Water Pipeline construction On the west side of the canal road From Bang Phai-Nong Phrao Ngai Road (Soi Wat Lat Pla Duk) to Sai Noi Road - Wat Ton Chuek

CONCLUSIONS

Test results, the cathodic protection system of MWA_Water Pipeline construction On the west side of the canal road From Bang Phai-Nong Phrao Ngai Road (Soi Wat Lat Pla Duk) to Sai Noi Road – Wat Ton Chuek. The pipe to soil potentials test is accordance with the N.A.C.E. SP-0169 standard. The potential is negative not less than 850 mV-DC compared to copper/copper sulfate (Cu / CuSO4), which the cathodic protection system can work for a lifetime of 30 years.

RECOMMENDATION

There should be an inspection of the the cathodic protection system every 6 months to check that the system is still working and the pipe to soil potentials test is negative not less than 850 mV-DC if the system have a problem or the pipe to soil potentials test is below the N.A.C.E. SP-0169 standard. Must repair the most urgent or contact the company that is installed to come to correct.

Description

Galvanic Anode installation. The cathodic protection current was determined by assuming 2% coating breakdown of the pipelines (Diameter 1,500mm) 4.043 km in a soil resistivity 700 Ohm-cm for 30 years protection. The conservative calculations showed that in order to meet the CP current a total of 282 magnesium anodes and 20 test stations will be needed. In the installation, the magnesium anode must be installed along the pipe line, the distance between 2 magnesium anodes as follow the design report.
