PWA Nakhon Ratchasima_Improvement and additional project.

CONCLUSIONS

Test results, the cathodic protection system of PWA Nakhon Ratchasima_Improvement and additional project. The pipe to soil potentials test is accordance with the N.A.C.E. SP-0169 standard. The potential is negative not less than 850 mV-DC compared to copper/copper sulfate (Cu / CuSO4), which the cathodic protection system can work for a lifetime of 30 years

RECOMMENDATION

There should be an inspection of the the cathodic protection system every 6 months to check that the system is still working and the pipe to soil potentials test is negative not less than 850 mV-DC if the system have a problem or the pipe to soil potentials test is below the N.A.C.E. SP-0169 standard. Must repair the most urgent or contact the company that is installed to come to correct.

Description

Galvanic Anode installation. The cathodic protection current was determined by assuming 2% coating breakdown of the pipelines (Diameter 700mm, 600mm) 10 km in a soil resistivity 2,500 Ohm-cm for 30 years protection. The conservative calculations showed that in order to meet the CP current a total of 283 magnesium anodes and 27 test stations will be needed. In the installation, the magnesium anode must be installed along the pipe line, the distance between 2 magnesium anodes as follow the design report.
